Assisting Children in Pencil Grasp Development

Remember when you were a kid and your teacher was showing you how to use a pencil for the first time? For many of us, this is a distant memory and our skills of forming proper pencil grasp have already been shaped by our teachers, peers, parents, grandparents you name it.

If you are a parent, teacher or caregiver, you may be reliving this memory with one of your students or children as they begin to figure out how to hold a marker or pencil to write their name. In my video, I illustrate how-to teach your child/student proper hand grasp through the tripod grasp, fun writing activities to do for hand strengthening and I also address the use of a pencil grip or built up foam handles, to provide your child/student with the most support in their grasp development.

Thank you so much for watching my video and I hope my tips bring your child/student lots of success!
