As Carla Hannaford states in her book, Smart Moves: Why learning is not all in your head,"Movement and play profoundly improve - not only learning - but creativity, stress management and health...Stress is a root cause of many of the learning problems that we see in people labeled hyperactive, ADD, ADHD, dyslexic and emotionally handicapped."
This would also apply to children with neurotypical diagnoses.
Sensory processing challenges keep a body in stress mode. I've spent the last 25 years assisting families understand sensory processing and how to implement sensory skill building into their routines and daily lives through creativity, movement, and play.

"Cyndi’s book “I See ABILITY” contains a powerful message to look beyond the surface to the heart of a child...It helps children to realize that others may look or act differently, however, all children have something special that they love and are good at. As a teacher, I would use this book to help build self-esteem and awareness. To teach children that you are special and them what they are good at and love, then celebrate the uniqueness and ability of each child!"
